Canal Society of Ohio
We are a volunteer organization founded in 1961,
dedicated to restoration, education, research,
and preservation related to Ohio’s historic canals.

Our activities are open to all, and include:
- Two daylong bus tours every year (in Spring and Fall) of canal-era sites across Ohio and nearby states
- Three half-day tours every year in Spring, Summer and Fall
- Publication of Towpaths, our quarterly journal of historical research
- State-wide support for historical markers, educational programs and artifact preservation, through grants and volunteer involvement
